DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman's
Jordan Jefferson and
Shayla Eugene once again garnered Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference weekly volleyball honors, it was announced today (October 15, 2018).
Jefferson was named Co-Player Of The Week – her fifth weekly honor of the season, while Eugene was named Defensive Specialist for the second straight.
A sophomore from San Antonio, Jefferson had double-doubles in each of the Lady Wildcats' two matches this past weekend, wins over South Carolina State and Savannah State. She opened the weekend with 13 kills and a career-high 28 digs against the Lady Bulldogs, and she followed that up on Sunday with 14 kills and 10 digs against the Lady Tigers. For the weekend, Jefferson averaged nearly four points, four kills and 5.4 digs per set.
Eugene, a junior from Fort Worth, averaged 5.3 digs per set for the Lady Wildcats this past weekend. She opened the weekend with 23 digs in the four-set win over South Carolina State, before turning in a 14-dig effort Sunday against Savannah State.
Bethune-Cookman (10-11) hosts Florida Gulf Coast (14-6) Tuesday at 6 p.m.
