COLUMBIA, S.C. – The high jump was a highlight for Bethune-Cookman at the South Carolina Invitational over the weekend.
Guy Bond (1.95 meters) finished second and
Thea Shaw fourth in their respective competitions.
"They both worked out some kinks and were very focused," B-CU Head Coach
Donald Cooper. "Being at that facility earlier in the season gave them so familiarity and they went out and performed."
Michael Hopkins continued his solid indoor season in pole vault with a personal best of 4.75 meters.
Kristopher Brown, the SWAC Track Athlete of the Week, finished sixth in the 200 (21.91) while
Sanaa Marlin (11.35 meters) was sixth in the triple jump.
Cooper was pleased with many participants who "made breakthroughs" at the meet.
"The opportunity to see freshman
Malcolm Brown get under two minutes in the 800,
David Richards make it through the rounds in hurdles,
DaMauri Little in the 800,
Jourdon Cooper with a personal record the hurdles,
Alyssa Williams in the 400,
Amenda Saint-Louis in the 400 .. the list was pretty extensive."
B-CU is off this weekend, returning to action Feb. 11 at the Hoosier Hills Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
