Daytona Beach, Fla. – After a busy midweek slate, the Wildcats will get back to business this weekend as they travel to Itta Bena, Miss. To meet the Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State for a three-game series this weekend. Things get underway Friday, April 1 at 7 p.m. EST.

Last Time Out
The Wildcats split a pair of tough midweek contests this week. B-CU fell to USF in Tampa Tuesday night, 13-2, after stranding ten men on the basepaths. A night later, the Wildcats took down the Stetson Hatters for the second time this season.
Kyle Wilkinson played hero as the Wildcats came back from down 6-3 to walk off the Hatters in the bottom of the ninth.
Scouting the Delta Devils
The Delta Devils ae 8-9-1 this season with a 2-4 record in SWAC play. They enter play this weekend off a doubleheader sweep of the NAIA's Tougaloo College in which they outscored the Bulldogs, 36-7, in two games. Last weekend, the Delta Devils were swept by Florida A&M.
The Delta Devils are batting .305 as a team with a .828 OPS. They have hit 10 homers as a team and struck out 117 times. They are led by catcher Ty Washington, who has totaled 15 RBI on a .281 batting average. Infielder Dreylin Holmes has a 1.026 OPS with four homers.
The Delta Devils pitching staff has combined for a 9.42 ERA this season with a 2.19 WHIP. They have struck out 94 in 129 innings. MVSU has 31 errors as a team.
The Starters
The Wildcats have settled into a weekend rotation of late, which will continue this weekend.
Louis Lipthratt will take the ball Friday night. Last time out, against Alabama State, Lipthratt went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
Nolan Santos will throw Saturday afternoon. Santos also went six innings, allowing four runs – two earned- on six hits and five walks with nine strikeouts against the Hornets.
Hector Vazquez will finish off the weekend for the Wildcats. He allowed only a single earned run last weekend through six innings with five hits, a walk, and five strikeouts.
All-Time Series
This weekend will mark the first time in the history of the two programs that the Wildcats and Delta Devils will meet on the baseball diamond.
Notes
- The B-CU pitching staff has struck out more batters than any other team in the conference at 219.
- Irvin Escobar has been nearly impossible to strikeout this season. He has only two strikeouts in 56 at-bats this season – a K average of 26.0 which ranks sixth across all of college baseball.
- Christopher Patterson ranks 42nd in the nation with a .512 on-base percentage.
- Four triples for Matthew Garcia ties him for fourth in the country.
- Hector Vazquez leads qualified SWAC pitchers with only five walks in 28.1 innings as well as a 5.60 strikeout to walk ratio.
- Nolan Santos sits sixth in the SWAC with 32 strikeouts in 32.2 innings. Opponents are hitting .213 against him
