Last Time Out
The Wildcats are losers of four straight after a three-game sweep at the hands of Florida A&M and a midweek loss at Stetson. Though the Wildcats totaled a season-high 14 hits last Sunday against FAMU, B-CU left 37 total men on base and struck out 47 times over their past four games. The Wildcats will look to get back on track this weekend.
Scouting the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are 5-21 this season with a 3-9 record in SWAC play. The Bulldogs are losers of seven straight, including sweeps by FAMU and Alabama State over the last two weekends.
AAMU bats .244 as a team with a .702 OPS, 14 homers and 107 RBI. Utility man Jared Tribett leads the Bulldogs offense with a 1.033 OPS and 21 RBI. Outfielder Tim Dixon leads in RBI with 25 on a .928 OPS. He has seven multi-RBI games.
The Bulldogs' pitching staff has put up an 8.07 ERA on a 1.99 WHIP this season. In 214 innings, they have struck out 165 and walked 127. AAMU has 57 errors as a team.
The Starters
No changes to the weekend rotation for the Wildcats –
Louis Lipthratt will look to set the tone on Thursday – he owns the best ERA and WHIP among B-CU starters.
Nolan Santos will take the middle game. He continues to lead the Wildcats in strikeouts at 48 after five last weekend against the Rattlers.
Hector Vazquez will finish up the weekend on Saturday. He continues to be allergic to walks, allowing only 10 free passes in over 37 innings this season.
All-Time Series
The Wildcats and Bulldogs have faced off seven previous times in history. The Wildcats own a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series, most recently defeating the Bulldogs, 15-7, on Feb. 16 2020.
