The Wildcats took a tough loss Tuesday night at FIU as they fell, 12-2, in their first midweek contest this season.
Jeremy Garcia and
Jason Hodges each recorded RBI for B-CU in the loss.
Scouting the Mastodons
Purdue Fort Wayne is 1-3 this season after taking one of three contests with the SWAC's own Alabama State last weekend. They were outscored 47-19 in the series
Grant Thoroman led the Mastodons at the dish with 6 RBI last weekend on three hit. Jarrett Bickel had five hits on the weekend.
The Mastodons pitching staff allowed six homers last weekend. They struck out 24 combined.
The Starters
Lipthratt, Santos and Gaviria will take the mound on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively. B-CU's starter for the second of the doubleheader Saturday is TBD.
Despite three excellent starts from the B-CU rotation, no Wildcat starter recorded a decision last weekend. In 17.1 innings,
Louis Lipthratt,
Nolan Santos, and
Daniel Gaviria combined to allow six runs, 22 strikeouts, and only four walks.
For Purdue Fort Wayne, it will be right-hander JD Deany, followed by lefty Jacob Myer, and right-handers Rex Stills and Mac Ayres, respectively.
All-Time Series
This will be the first time in the history of the two programs that they will meet on the baseball diamond.
