The Wildcats will send
Santiago Gomez to the mound for the start. He was solid in a midweek appearance last week against Jacksonville. In five innings, he allowed two earned runs on four hits and three walks with six strikeouts.
An exciting weekend of baseball saw the Wildcats take two of three from the defending SWAC champions, Alabama State. The Wildcats came from down three late to beat ASU in game one on a wild pitch in the eighth inning.
After falling, 11-3 in game two, the Wildcats rebounded for a series win in game three thanks to a three-run homer by
Jeremy Garcia.
The Hatters are 14-8 to start the season. Winners of four straight, Stetson swept ASUN foe Kennesaw State to open conference play this past weekend in DeLand.
The Hatters are hitting .268 this season with 160 runs scored over 22 games. They have hit 27 homers and struck out 170 times in 717 at bats. The Hatters are led at the plate by Andrew Estrella. He is hitting .292 with a team-high 20 RBI.
Cooper Smith will start for the Hatters. The left-hander has made nine appearances this season, all in relief. Smith has a 3.48 ERA and .87 WHIP in just over 10 innings pitched. He has struck out 11 and walked four.
This will be the nintieth meeting all-time between B-CU and Stetson. The Hatters have won 69 of those meetings, but the Wildcats took two of three last season.
