ATLANTA, Ga. - The Wildcats will begin their chase for the 2023 SWAC Baseball Championship Wednesday as they take on the Jaguars of Southern, Wednesday, May 24 at Russ Chandler Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Wildcats took two of three from Jackson State at Jackie Robinson Ballpark last weekend. The Wildcats took the first two games of the series, including a thrilling walk-off game two victory off the bat of Robert Moya, whose towering home run gave B-CU the victory down a run with two outs in the ninth. 



Southern finished the 2023 regular season 22-26, including a 17-10 record in SWAC play. They closed out the season with a series sweep against UAPB. The Jaguars finished the season with a 6-16 record on the road, and a 4-4 record in neutral site contests.

Outfielder Jaylen Armstrong leads the Jaguars at the plate. He hit .322 on the season with 5 homers, 38 RBI, and 37 stolen bases. As a team, the Jaguars stole 97 bases on 121 attempts. They hit .257 as a team.

The Jaguars pitching staff compiled a 7.69 ERA on the season, led by Nicholas Wilson, who pitched to  3.28 ERA with 92 strikeouts on the season. 

• Nolan Santos finished the regular season with 124 strikeouts, the second-highest mark in all of college baseball.

The Wildcats are 4-0 all-time against Southern. The two teams have not met since 2011.
