@BCUGridIron Mourns Death of Lawrence McCloud

Former quarterback passes away suddenly

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman Athletics is saddened to learn of the death of former Wildcats Football student-athlete Lawrence McCloud, who suddenly passed away recently after battling an undisclosed illness.
 
McCloud played for the Wildcats from 2001-05 under former head coach Alvin Wyatt Sr. A graduate of Ribault High School in Jacksonville, Florida, McCloud served as a quarterback in the infamous "Wyatt Bone" triple-option offensive system. He would miss a majority of the 2004 and '05 seasons due to injury, but played through it for time under center for the Maroon and Gold.
 
A viewing is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 7, at Holmes-Glover-Solomon Funeral Home (4334 Brentwood Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32206) taking place from 6 – 7 p.m.
 
Funeral services for McCloud are set for Saturday, Feb. 8, at Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church (2803 Edgewood Avenue) in his hometown of Jacksonville. Services begin at 10 a.m.
