LORMAN, Miss. — Bethune-Cookman will look to stay unbeaten in the SWAC as they travel to play Alcorn State at McGowan Stadium. The first of three games will start Friday night at 7 p.m. EST.

Florida State jumped out early, plating three runs in the first inning behind an RBI double from Myles Bailey and adding two more runs on a fielder's choice and a double play. The Seminoles broke the game open in the second, scoring four runs, three of them unearned, to take a 7-0 lead.
Bailey led the offensive effort, going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBIs. His three-run homer in the sixth inning highlighted a five-run frame that extended Florida State's lead to 12-1. Brayden Dowd added two hits and scored three times, while Eli Putnam also crossed the plate three times and drove in a run.
Bethune-Cookman was held hitless in the game, managing its lone run in the fourth inning on a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded. The Wildcats struck out nine times and drew three walks but could not generate any offensive momentum.
Florida State's pitching staff combined on the no-hitter, with starter Cooper Whited allowing one run over 3 1/3 innings while striking out six. Brodie Purcell (1-0) earned the win in relief, tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Cole Stokes closed out the game with two scoreless frames.
Michael Benedict (1-2) took the loss for Bethune-Cookman, surrendering seven runs, four earned, over two innings.
Florida State finished with nine hits and did not commit an error, while Bethune-Cookman was charged with two errors in the loss.
Alcorn State lost its SWAC-opening series to Alabama A&M, losing two out of three to the Bulldogs. The Braves have just two victories over Division I opponents this season, AAMU and Jackson State.
The Braves have struggled offensively this season, currently ranking at the bottom of the SWAC in batting average and home runs and topping the league in strikeouts.
Junior Cooper Harris has been a strong presence in the lineup, hitting .317 with four doubles, two homers, and 18 RBI.
On the pitching side, the Braves have accumulated a 10.39 team ERA while allowing a .332 batting average. They are second in the league in wild pitches and hit batters and lead the conference in walks.

The Wildcats are 4-1 against the Braves, including a dominant sweep in Daytona Beach last season.
