DAYTONA BEACH, Fla - Another busy week in Bethune-Cookman athletics means more opportunities for our athletes to shine! Tennis was the only team to compete at home and baseball continued their hot streak on the road. Two of the standout Wildcats,
Zahara El-Zein and
Christopher Watson, have been named Wildcats of the Week for the week of March 16-March 22.
Sophomore
Zahara El-Zein was stellar for the Wildcat tennis team, winning her singles match in two-sets, 6-2 and 6-1 respectively. IU Indy came to Daytona Beach and narrowly won overall, due to a forced forfeit by the Wildcats. SWAC play will continue this week, on the road, at Jackson State.
Christopher Watson was active in all three games this weekend at Alcorn State. In nine AB's the Senior notched six hits, seven runs scored, three RBI's, and one walk. His first triple of the season was recorded in game one on Saturday. The Diamondcats remain perfect in SWAC play, and will return home this weekend to keep the streak alive against Jackson State.
Each week, the Bethune-Cookman Office of Athletic Communications recognizes one male and one female student-athlete through the Wildcats of the Week award. This award recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in competition, in the classroom, and in the community over the past week, exemplifying the Championship Culture of Wildcat Athletics.
