BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — B-CU designated hitter Jose Fernandez has been named SWAC Co-Hitter of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon from its headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. 

The Wildcats have now received twelve weekly awards this season. However, this is the first time Fernandez has been recognized.

Jose Fernandez was an offensive powerhouse as the Wildcats played a midweeker tight with UCF and gained the lead in the SWAC standings with a series win over FAMU. In four games, he collected seven hits, scored two runs and drive in eight RBI with help from a grand slam Saturday. He also grabbed two doubles, worked a walk, and stole a base.

B-CU has another important SWAC series on deck, as they take on the UAPB Golden Lions at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex. The series begins Friday at 7 p.m.
