DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – On the road, the goal is to get a split of the two games. Bethune-Cookman's hoping for a home split when it hosts Howard Monday at the Ocean Center.

A disappointing 68-56 setback to Hampton has the Wildcats (10-9 overall, 5-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) looking to salvage its first league homestand before heading back on the road next weekend at South Carolina State and North Carolina Central.

“We need to make sure we take care of business and get one of the two games,” said B-CU coach Clifford Reed Jr. “It would be just as a good as a road split.”

Howard enters the game 2-16 overall and 0-6 MEAC after Saturday's 45-39 loss at Florida A&M. After Saturday's loss to Hampton, Reed isn't taking anyone or anything lightly.

“Howard plays hard and plays a lot of different zones,” Reed said. “It's going to be a very ugly game if we can't hit our shots and play soft like we did Saturday.”

While the men's team is looking to rebound, the Lady Wildcats (9-8,3-3) are looking to sustain momentum after Saturday's 55-51 victory over first-place Hampton.

“It's a big win for us,” B-CU coach Vanessa Blair said. “Not because Hampton is the number one team in the conference, but we were coming off a bad game at Maryland Eastern Shore and we need to be consistent. This victory won't mean much if we can't beat Howard on Monday."

Howard sophomore Saadia Doyle is second in the MEAC in scoring with an average of 16.8 points per game and is tied for first with 8.8 boards a night. Game times are 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
