DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman's Adrien Coleman was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Co-Player Of The Week, the conference announced Monday.
The 6-5 junior from Atlanta shared honors with North Carolina Central's Jeremy Ingram as he garnered his fourth conference player of the week this season. Alex Smith has garnered two MEAC Defensive Player Of The Week awards and Ricky Johnson one Player Of The Week mention.
Coleman averaged 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds to to lead the Wildcats to victories over Howard and South Carolina State. Against South Carolina State, Coleman recorded a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds along with two blocks and two steals.
For the season, Coleman is averaging 17.9 points per game and is maintaining his lead over Ingram (16.5) for the MEAC scoring title.
On Monday night against Savannah State, Coleman posted his seventh double-double of the season and eighth of his career with 21 points and 11 points as the Wildcats downed the Tigers 72-58 for their third straight win. Coleman went over the 500 point mark for the season, becoming the sixth player to do that since 1980.
The Wildcats (12-16 overall and 7-6 in conference play) conclude their 2012-13 regular season with a three-game road trip beginning Saturday at Norfolk State.
