NORFOLK, Va. – Bethune-Cookman University had 73 student-athletes named to the Commissioner's All-Academic Team, it was announced Friday by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in Norfolk, Va. Bethune-Cookman had the fifth-most student-athletes honored out of the 13-member institution league, highlighted by 41 men's student-athletes and 33 women.
A total of 882 student-athletes from the conference's 13 member institutions who achieved academic success during the 2012-13 academic school year were introduced to the team by MEAC Commissioner Dr. Dennis E. Thomas.
“I am excited to highlight the 882 student-athletes who maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during the 2012-13 academic school year,” said Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas. “I would like to commend the administrators, athletic academic support staff and personnel, coaches, institutions, and parents for their contributions to the academic success of these student-athletes.”
To be eligible for consideration for the MEAC Commissioner's All-Academic Team, a student-athlete – regardless of classification – must have earned a 3.00 GPA for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative GPA during her academic career.
