DAYTONA BEACH, Florida. – Two trips to Arizona, three NCAA tournament teams and 14 home dates highlight the 2014-15 Bethune-Cookman Men's Basketball Schedule, Head Coach Gravelle Craig announced today.
The Wildcats tip off Saturday November 15 in the friendly confines of Historic Moore Gymnasium against Trinity College, then head west for their first appearance in the Grand Canyon State two days later against 2014 NCAA tournament team Arizona State. B-CU returns to Arizona the following month to face Grand Canyon, coached by former Phoenix Sun star Dan Majerle, on December 15.
Also on the non-conference schedule: A three-game stint at Monmouth (New Jersey) as part of the 2014 CBE Hall of Fame Classic (Arizona State is the opening game) against Monmouth, Towson and Central Connecticut State November 21-23 and a November 30 Sunday matinee match-up against nearby UCF.
B-CU travels to Macon, Ga. for a December 19 matchup at Mercer, which stunned Duke in the second round of the NCAA tournament last season and to Charleston, S.C. for a December 30 afternoon special at The Citadel. In January, B-CU faces Ball State in Muncie, Ind. on the 3rd.
“I feel good about this schedule,” Craig said. “We have more home games than in previous years, and the teams we'll be facing on the road will both challenge us and prepare us to make a strong run once conference play starts."
In addition to eight home Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference games, including defending champion North Carolina Central (February 14) and arch-rival Florida A&M (February 21), the Wildcats will host non-conference opponents Trinity College, Tennessee-Martin, (November 25), North Florida (December 3), Jacksonville (December 6) and Trinity Baptist (January 5).
Volusia county rival Stetson comes to Moore Gym on February 3.
