DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman resumed men's basketball practice Tuesday morning at DME Sports after a five-day interruption caused by Hurricane Matthew.
With the campus still closed and venerable Moore Gymnasium suffering structural damage, the team will continue to practice at the Daytona Beach sports facility. Student-athletes have either returned to their off-campus housing or are staying in area hotels.
The team will have two-a-day practices to make up for the lost sessions.
"Four or five days is a lot of time to be off when you're used to working out," said B-CU Head Coach
Gravelle Craig. "We're getting back to basics and relearning what we put in before. It's a process, and we're taking it one practice at a time."
Craig emphasized the importance of keeping focused on the upcoming season, which begins Nov. 11 at St. John's.
"You don't have much of a choice – St. John's and all them aren't going to care whether or not we've missed practices once the game starts," Craig said. "We'll make it up on the back end, practice a little longer, a little harder and get better."
