DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Four Bethune-Cookman student-athletes will be playing in this weekend's Fifth Annual FCS Bowl presented by Spiral, taking place Sunday, Dec. 9, at Daytona Stadium in Daytona Beach, Florida. BCU will have Trenton Bridges, Todney Evans, Malique Jackson and Kevin Thompson will all represent the Maroon and Gold in the event.

"I think this is an incredible opportunity for our guys to play another game of collegiate football, as well as showcase themselves to several professional scouts from many different teams and leagues around the worlds," said Head Coach Terry Sims, recently completing his fifth year the helm in Daytona Beach. "For each one of these guys, this is fabulous, especially playing in their home stadium."

The FCS National Bowl is an annual postseason college football all-star game consisting of the top players from college football on the FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) level. The inaugural FCS National Bowl was played in December 2014 at FIU Stadium in Miami, with the game moving to Daytona Stadium [formerly Municipal Stadium] in Daytona Beach in 2016. The National Bowl and FCS Bowl all-star weekend for non-FBS schools has been the only game of its kind to attract numerous NFL and CFL scouts alike.

For Bethune-Cookman senior defensive ends Todney Evans and Kevin Thompson join senior linebacker Trenton Bridges on that side of the ball. Meanwhile, senior receiver Malique Jackson serves as the lone representative from the offensive side of things for the Wildcats.

"Speaking for me, it is an honor to play another game at home in front of your family and friends," said Trenton Bridges, a DeLand native and four-year letterwinner for the Wildcats.

This year's National Team will be coached by Mike Stock, former head coach at Eastern Michigan. The American Team will be coached by Preston McKnight, former head coach of the Reading High School.

All four Bethune-Cookman student-athletes will play under McKnight and the American Team.

"I just enjoy playing college football," said Thompson, who was granted a fifth year by the NCAA to play in 2018 due to a medical hardship waiver. "Playing for Coach [Terry] Sims and the Wildcats has been a dream come true for me. And to put on this uniform one more time in a FCS all-star game is just that much more special."

The game takes place Sunday, Dec. 9, at 1:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket window at Daytona Stadium on the home side.
