DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -Â Bethune-Cookman University Men's Basketball Head CoachÂ
Ryan Ridder is pleased to announce that Leon Redd has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Wildcats for the 2018-19 season. Redd heads to the World's Most Famous Beach from Paris Junior College in Texas. In 30 games last season for the Dragons, the 6'0 guard averaged 10.1 points, 2.7 assists, and 3.0 rebounds. Redd shot 42% overall, 36.6% from three, and 71.8% from the stripe.Â
Redd was named to the All-Region 14 First Team, and was also chosen as the recipient of the 2017-2018 Carol Dawson Cup at Paris Junior College as the male athlete of the year.Â
Redd played his 2016-17 season at Southeastern Illinois, where he averaged 11.1 points and shot 33.8% from distance. He dished out 115 assists and totaled 38 steals.Â
He is a native of Grand Rapids, Mich., and played for Godwin Heights High School, where the Wolverines compiled an overall record of 71-6 with Redd in the lineup. As a senior, he averaged 18 points, three assists, and four steals.Â
Redd joins a Wildcat team that is coming off its second-ever Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular season title and returns two All-MEAC honorees and the conference's Defensive Player of the Year,Â
Soufiyane Diakite. Recently, Ridder was chosen as the Joe B. Hall Award for the top Division 1 first year head coach.Â
