SCOUTING EDINBORO (Pa.)
Edinboro arrives to Florida sporting a 1-4 overall record having claimed a 5-2 win in the Scots last match on the road in Buffalo, New York to Daemen University (N.Y.).
Â
The Scots are under the direction of Head Coach Travis Myler.
Â
Edinboro is guided by three seniors, in addition to having two freshmen and a sophomore on the roster.
Â
In their last match at Daemen, it was the Scots' No. 1 and No. 3 doubles teams earning the point with Lara Sener and Luciana Ponce teaming up for the decisive win in the No. 3 position. Cecilia Carayol bounced back from an opening set defeat in her top flight singles match to claim a 6-1, 10-4 decision. Also noteworthy was a straight set win on court two by Ponce with scores of 6-4, 6-2.
Â
A season ago, Edinboro finished 8-13 overall with a 3-3 record in league play.

RECAPPING B-CU'S LAST MATCH (vs. St. John's)
Playing their second match in as many days, Bethune-Cookman was tripped up by visiting St. John's (N.Y.) by a score of 7-0 at Derbyshire Park.
Â
St. John's opened the match sweeping all three doubles positions to claim the 1-0 advantage heading into singles play. The duo of Alicia Gómez and Vicky Papadopoulou turned in a 6-0 win from Bethune-Cookman's
Allexii Bassette and
Jalayah Shaw in the No. 1 doubles position. The Red Storm tandem of Sandra Dzhambazov and Nicoline Sartz-Lunde secured a competitive 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles against B-CU's
Zahara El-Zein and
Lesa Snipes-Williams, while Giulia Bizzari and Charlotta Buss won by forfeit in the No. 3 slot.
Â
"We fought hard against a quality team today," expressed B-CU Head Coach
Chris Wollett. "The windy conditions added an extra element of difficulty, but that was hard to deal with by players on both sides of the net."
Â
Bethune-Cookman played well in singles play, once again, despite numerous players dealing with vexing injuries. Papadopoulou, playing in the No. 1 position, faced the stiffest challenge of the day but prevailed 6-4, 6-1 over
Jalayah Shaw in a tightly-contested match.
Â
"Even though it was a team loss, we had a lot of positives to take from today," added Wollett. "No. 2 doubles was a battle to be proud of, and Jalayah's [Shaw] match at No. 1 singles was a lot closer than the score might indicate."
Â
Noemi Babikova worked past Wildcats freshman El-Zein 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, while Charlotta Buss turned away
Allexii Bassette 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 3 spot. SJU's Gómez claimed a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 victory over
Keona Burley on court No. 4. Dzhambazov grabbed a 6-0, 6-1 decision from B-CU's
Lesa Snipes-Williams in the No. 5 slot.
Â
Meanwhile, the singles match began as the No. 6 singles point was awarded to St. John's Giulia Bizzari by forfeit.
Â
"I was proud of how everyone competed, but at the end of the day, St. John's is just a level above us right now," remarked Wollett.
