DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – For the second consecutive year under the direction of Head Coach
Chris Wollett, Bethune-Cookman Women's Tennis earned ITA All-Academic Team accolades, while freshman
Zahara El-Zein was recognized as an ITA Scholar-Athlete for the 2024-25 season, announced Monday afternoon.
To be named an ITA All-Academic team, programs must have a team GPA of 3.2 or above.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet a set of academic and athletic standards of having a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
Zahara El-Zein, a rising sophomore from Harare, Zimbabwe, finished the 2025 spring campaign with a team-leading 5-5 record in No. 2 singles play for the Wildcats.
"Part of my job as a coach is to make sure each of our student-athletes prioritizes success in the classroom, as well as on the court," said Wollett, recently completing his second year at the helm of the Wildcats program. "To not only see our team enjoy success, but to have a student-athlete earn individual success with Zahara's award speaks wonders about where we're headed as a program as well."
Additionally, requirements for being named an ITA All-Academic Team include a program holding a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
