DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Mina Matsuba set another Bethune-Cookman career record, and the Lady Wildcats fielded a complete team for the first time this season, but Stetson posted a 5-2 victory Saturday at City Island Tennis Center.
Mina Matsuba's victory at No. 1 singles was her 66th, eclipsing the old mark of 65 held by Valerie Kendrick. She also teamed with
Debora Echeverria for a No. 1 doubles win for her 65th, tying her with Olga Rusilova.
"Mina has raised the bar and we are very proud of her accomplishments," said B-CU Head Coach
Val Villucci. "She is finishing her senior year with strength and determination."
Stetson (3-10) won the doubles points and four of the six singles matches to snap a two-game Lady Wildcat (5-8) run and spoil the first time this season all six players have taken the court. Echeverria registered the other Lady Wildcat point at No. 2 singles.
"Having a chance to play at full strength obviously is the best right now, but now we need to regroup so we can perform at our potential," Villucci said. "I don't feel we reached that yet."
