Bethune-Cookman's all-time passing leader, Bernard Hawk's time as quarterback from 1982-85 featured one of the most proficient passing offenses in Black College Football.

The Jacksonville product threw for 7,737 yards and 56 touchdowns and led the 1984 Wildcats to the school's first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship.  In addition to two berths on the MEAC All-Conference team, Hawk was named a Black College Sports Review All-American and was listed among the top 100 athletes to come out of Jacksonville during the 20th century.

Hawk played with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League and the Arena League's Tampa Bay Storm.
