Maxwell Newbold was a standout wide receiver for the Wildcats and a member of the 1947 Southeastern Conference championship team that went 10-2.He would go on to serve as co-captain in 1948.
Football was not his only love. An accomplished musician, Newbold mastered the tenor saxophone and pioneered many developments in musical style.
Newbold received a degree in Physical Education and minored in Health Education. He also was certified in shoe repair during Bethune-Cookman's day as a partial trade school.
