Hall of Fame
Eugene McCray was an All-American and All SIAC football player during his days at Bethune-Cookman from 1949 to 1953.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, McCray continued his studies at Clark-Atlanta and earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration. His professional career was as a senior auditor with the Atlantic Life Insurance Company in Fort Worth, Texas.
McCray was active in the Fort Worth community, and was the first African-American elected to the City Council. The city honored him as a permanent  Mayor Pro-Tem prior to his passing in 1998.
