Charles "Boobie" Clark was an offensive end at Stanton High where he acquired his famed nickname from teammates for no apparent reason.

He was a tight end at Bethune-Cookman from 1969-73, but it was at fullback - where he lined up just once as a Wildcat - that thrust him into a solid NFL career. A 12th round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in 1973, Clark earned American Football Conference Rookie Of The Year honors after rushing for 983 yards and eight touchdowns in his first season.

Clark remains high on the Bengals' all-time rushing yardage list (2,978 yards) while scoring 25 touchdowns on the ground and two receiving during his six seasons in Cincinnati. He finished his career with the Houston Oilers.

Clark died October 25, 1988 in Jacksonville, Fla.
